SmartSwitch™ Dev Kits are extremely flexible and efficient
Design flexibility has never been more simple. NKK’s SmartSwitch™ product line allows you to design what you want, any way you want it. Our series of LCD programmable switches and displays are developed for use with a wide variety of applications.
Development Kits
Using the Design Online Tools, engineers can easily program text, draw graphics and experiment with their design concepts. Once completed, these programs can be downloaded into the development kit, which enables engineers to easily test their programs on actual SmartSwitch™ pushbuttons and displays. Engineers can then present their concepts and product ideas to colleagues and with clients.
In addition, the development kits offer engineers a renewed flexibility, because the printed circuit board units have sockets for the LCD pushbuttons and displays that allow them to be interchanged for optimal design testing. Engineers can choose between a variety of LED backlighting color, RGB, intensity and LCD display combinations with the SmartSwitch™ series.

IS-DEV KIT-1: One SmartSwitch™ programmable LCD display module and two PCB mounted tact switches, with flash memory, power and programming connections.
IS-DEV KIT-2: Two SmartSwitch™ LCD programmable pushbutton switches on a PC board with flash memory, power and programming connections.
IS-DEV KIT-4: Two Compact RGB SMARTSWITCH™ LCD programmable pushbutton switches on a PC board with flash memory, power and programming connections.
IS-DEV KIT-5: Two RGB SMARTSWITCH™ LCD programmable pushbutton switches on a PC board with flash memory, power and programming connections.
Demonstration Kits
NKK has developed a line of products to assist in demonstrating the SmartSwitch™ product series. These demonstration kits (IS-DEM KIT) can be easily used in the customer’s final design and are programmed by means of our on-line software or through our stand-alone software provided on CD.
- The IS-DEM KITs are used to display bitmaps, up to 64, that have been created via the user’s PC. These kits are supplied with an R/G LCD module software, USB cable and programming instructions. Once downloaded, the bitmaps can be displayed and advanced by means of the address control lines without the need of a PC.
- These kits can be incorporated into the user’s end product, as the PCB has been designed with allowance for standoffs.
- The LCD module can be interchanged to meet the user’s specific color application.
